MR. NIPPLES IS A BAD SHARK!!

Dear Dive Slate,

There’s this shark named Mr. Nipples. He’s a bad bad shark. I think he tired to nibble on my good friend Gina!  He was being so great for most of the trip, just swimming and posing for pictures. There were snacks in the water for him and his friends. Big juicy hunks of tuna floating on the surface, I even thought they looked super tasty.

  Were we not all having a great time together? We stayed in our cages with our cameras and he had the entire ocean to play in and all of the sudden he’s a big meany! Gina was just scooting down the mini ramp on her bottom to the top of the cage and then Mr. Nipples shoots out of the water and bumps the bottom of the ramp. How rude is that!? All the dive boat staff just laughed and said that Mr. Nipples was being silly and playing splashing games. “Great White sharks just love to play games”, they said.

I was so impressed at how quickly they moved to close the top of the cage. You know, sometimes shouting orders does sound like relaxed good-hearted laugher. We all did have a good laugh after Mr. Nipples played his splashing game with Gina. But then I thought was he really splashing or trying to nibble?

During dinner our new friend Paulo, who was in the cage when Mr. Nipples was playing his splashing game, showed us his GoPro video. Guess what? It really didn’t look like Mr. Nipples was playing splashing games. It appeared that Mr. Nipples was trying to do some nibbling. Paulo even said, “ I think he was going for the BIGGER fish!” So if I ever see Mr. Nipples again, I’m going to say, “ Mr. Nipples, we aren’t friends because friends don’t nibble on other people friends”.
