Lens

Model: Lumix G Fisheye 8mm f/3.5

Manufacture: Panasonic

Website: www.keh.com

Cost: Used $460 (New $800)

Purchase Advice: This wide angle prime fisheye lens has been worth every penny. The results are outstanding compared to the stock ED M. 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ Lens. It’s perfect for wrecks, people and large animal shots with a 180 degree field of view. The lens barreling effect is super fun to use to create beautiful underwater images. If there was only one lens I could keep it would be this lens. The only down side is that there is no zoom function, so you are zooming with your fins! This has definitely improved my skills at sneaking up to wildlife underwater. You have to get right on the subject for the best results.

Model: M.Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6

Manufacture: Olympus

Website: www.keh.com

Cost: Used $388 (New $600)

Purchase Advice: This rectilinear wide angle zoom lens was purchased specifically for sharks shots. I have not used it as much as I thought. The image quality is great but I find that the autofocus doesn’t work well in low light as it constantly searches for focus. This has caused a number of shots to look like they are in focus while reviewing underwater, only to find out on the beach none of the shots were crisp and sharp. This lens just requires more ambient light for focus prior to the strobes firing, so these conditions need to be considered prior to getting in the water.

Model: M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f/2.8 Macro

Manufacture: Olympus

Website: www.keh.com

Cost: Used $294 (New $550)

Purchase Advice: I love this lens! It would be very difficult to choose between this macro lens and the Panasonic 8mm fisheye. The images are so sharp! It is perfect for those beautiful little critters and close in coral shots. The detail that is captured lets you see things you would never see when you encounter the wildlife underwater with your bare eyes. Seeing these details on the beach after a dive is exciting. This lens opens a window into the tiniest of underwater worlds!
